The MOPP Study   |   Prevention of Opioid Use Disorder After Surgery

PAIN AND OPIOID
NIH FUNDED RESEARCH STUDY

Multi-faceted persistent Opioid use Prevention Program (MOPP)

PERSONALIZED APPROACH WITH PAIN APP

You will be given an app to use on your smartphone so you can keep track of your pain, function, and medication use. You can also use this app to communicate with our pharmacy team, which allows you to be closer to your healthcare providers. If you don’t have a smart phone, we will give you a tablet to use for the study. You will also have a virtual visit with a pharmacist to make sure that your pain is being well-controlled.

HOW LONG WILL YOU BE IN THIS RESEARCH STUDY?

If you decide to join this research study, it will take about 6 months to complete with a total time commitment of about 1 to 5 hours, including the completion of confidential surveys and the use of the app if you are assigned to the MOPP program. This time commitment requires no extra travel to the hospital and can be completed in the comfort of your own home.

PURPOSE

In this research study we want to learn more about developing an effective strategy to control pain while preventing long-term opioid use and opioid use disorder after surgery. The goal of this research study is to pilot test the effectiveness and usability of a Multi-faceted persistent Opioid use Prevention Program (MOPP).

This pilot intervention program, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) combines multiple strategies and is designed to support safer opioid prescribing, improve patient self-monitoring, improve communication with your doctors and ensure your pain is well-controlled while reducing overall opioid consumption.
